I discovered the Deadlocked series while searching for a book about zombies. I had never read anything in this genre before but had started watching The Walking Dead on TV and thought I would see what was out there on the subject. Deadlocked was the first book that after reading the blurb really caught my interest. Then after reading the reviews and seeing that the book was free(and still is) I figured there was nothing to lose except the time to start it and see if I would like it. I am so glad I took that chance! This is not just a series about creatures walking around eating living people. This series is about the lives that are affected by the Apocalypse and how they cope with what is happening to the world. AR Wise takes you into their thoughts...lives...and feelings to such a depth you feel like you are there with them. As each book progresses you find yourself liking some and hating others. You cheer for the good guys and jeer at the bad guys. You come to love some characters only to find they lose the fight...in this series....NO ONE is safe! I cold not wait for book seven to be released and found myself checking Amazon so many times in anticipation to find out what had happened after book six. In book seven we are taken to the same place where book six left off where the Rollers(the good guys) are fighting against the evil ones in what is a very important scene in the book(to me any way). This book is written in the present and the past which gives us insight to a lot of what has led each character to where they are today. We learn what they loved, how they lived and what they have lost along the way to try and save humanity. I can't recommend this series enough. If you are like me and are looking for something different to read than normal...then do yourself a favor and get a copy of Deadlocked and find out for yourself how engrossing this series is. D7..... i so love these characters. They are like old friends (and some- old enemies). i encourage anyone to start at the beginning and work your way up to D7. Yes, it is about the zombie apocalypse but it is SO much more. I couldn't put it down. We lost some characters along the way and that was painful but in such dire situations its not unexpected. Losing them was sad but knowing them made the pain worthwhile! A MUST READ!
I love this series. It is outstanding. And while I didn't like how this book kept bouncing between time periods I managed to keep up. But I will say this.. the characters had me mad as hell. The plot twists and situations get you emotionally invested. I wanted to shoot, slap and kick the characters myself. And not because they made some cliche stupid move but because their personalities affect how things play out and it never turns out quite how you expect the cliche to play out.
I am deeply involved with the deadlocked series. I love it, it is awesome! AR Wise does an great job of giving these characters a life of their own, I love all the characters, the story line is getting awesome in a whole new way, but there is one thing I must tell you Mr. Author (AR WISE) that I have to complain about. I refuse to try any of your other book series as I am waiting for the next installment to THIS series. Come on! I don't want vampires, I want more zombies. GIVE ME ZOMBIES! Haha. )
A lot was revealed in this book, it was back and forth in the time line and I had to think about parts I had read a few chapters before, but it was the most reveling story line for the back stories for a lot of the character's I have grown to love, a lot happens and a few times I had to just stop reading because I felt myself get mad, or had tears in my eyes. But your left with feeling of dread and hope, and if nothing else, if you have read the series up to number 6 you know you'll just have to read 7.
Wow!! What a great 7th installment!! If you have been following this series, be prepared. This book is filled with A LOT of important information and answers MANY questions you probably had. It did not take me long to read this. I really tried to pace myself but, MAN, it was hard!! The only complaint I have....Now I have to wait for Deadlocked 8!! You did a great job with this one A.R. Wise. Congratulations on your success with this series! It's wonderful! You should feel very proud that you're such an accomplished writer!! I'll be waiting (not so patiently) for the next one....
This was a great addition to an exciting series. I`m looking forward to completing the series. I think Hero might be my favorite character. I enjoyed how this novel jumped around and told you about things that happened early on in the apocalypse. You learned about the early days with Reagan. This novel really gave the world move depth than it previously had.
I started with #1 because it was free and was totally hooked. I generally don't purchase ebooks because I am cheap, but after reading #2, I purchased all of the others so I could continue reading one after the other. Now that I have just finished #7, I am distressed because I have to wait for #8. By the time it comes out I will have to re-read 1-7 to bring me up to speed. This author understands his reader and what the reader needs. He sucks us into caring about the characters, what they do, what happens to them, good or bad. And yes, I have cried over characters. He writes in such a way that I can visualize every scene and am almost there with the characters. I will purchase everything he writes because he writes for me..
